Fact Forward
For nearly 20 years United Way has been working to decrease teen pregnancies in our community. By reducing these numbers we are reducing poverty in our community. Simply put we are reducing the number of adolescent girls who are having children they are not emotionally or financially prepared to care for at their age. During this time, in partnership with our school districts, we have seen an 81% decrease and we have been recognized nationally for our success. Currently, we are partnering with Fact Forward (South Carolina’s Teen Pregnancy Prevention organization) to implement a program that provides teenagers access to a video about sexual health, risk-taking, relationships, and making better choices called Plan A. Teens can access Plan A via a landing page located on our website and social media site. It also offers them access to a community health worker if they require mental health services, dealing with alcohol or drug use or if they are suicidal.
