COVID-19 Relief

With the help of donors and many partners United Way of Anderson County has been able to meet needs during this pandemic crisis. We have created collaboratives, directed grant funding, distributed a COVID-19 Relief Fund, donated over 50,000 lbs of food and more. Read below for highlights from the work we have been doing to help alleviate some of the challenges facing our community.

Accomplishments during COVID-19 with the help of donors and many partners

  • Brought together 10 food agencies in the community to create a food collaborative
  • Distributed nearly $60,000 in COVID-19 Relief for food and emergency medical services
  • Distributed over 50,000 lbs. of food to food partners in the community
  • Distributed over 1,000 masks to nonprofit agencies
  • 2000 FamilyWize prescription cards were distributed to community agencies
  • Allocated over $120,000 in FEMA funds for rent, mortgage, & utility assistance, shelter and food
  • Americorps Team updated all 211 information and assisted Oconee County’s Emergency Operation Center during their tornado crisis
  • Assisted with showering station for the homeless at the Salvation Army
  • Delivered large donation of baby care products to the Pregnancy Care Center
  • Distributed $55,000 of OneSC Grant for food, emergency medical services and rent & utility assistance
  • Made large donation of pet food and other pet products to the Anderson County Animal Shelter
  • Provided extra snackpacks to school districts
  • Delivered “thank you” cookies for first responders, health care workers and others helping to meet the needs during Covid-19
  • Donated bedding for the Covid-19 Quarantine Shelter for the homeless
  • Donated snacks to the Salvation Army for their shelter residents
  • Donated supplies for the Safe Harbor Shelter
  • Distributed extra snackpacks to South Main Chapel & Mercy Center, Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club and AIM’s Summer Children’s Feeding Program
  • Distributed large amounts of paper products & personal hygiene products to community agencies
  • Distributed over 8000 frozen meals donated to us by Second Harvest Food Bank out of Charlotte
  • Convened meeting to serve as conduit for the partnership of AIM, Clemson Community Care (serving Pendleton) and SHARE to assist with rent, mortgage and utilities
  • Provided volunteers to help with food distribution for children in School District 5
  • Assisted with food distribution for Meals On Wheels
  • Those of us in the office worked to drop everything to help meet the needs of individuals who called or came in the office
